This bird is one of the rainforest's most over-the-top showstoppers. they have huge black and white wings, a long ivory bill, and that unmistakable fiery orange and red helmet - called a casque. They are found in the lowland forests of Southeast Asia. They boom through the canopy with deep echoing calls and flies with loud rhythmic wingbeats that sound like a giant bird-powdered fan. They are especially important because they swallow fruits whole and then disperse the seeds across the forest - helping to regenerate the jungle as they travel. During nesting, the female often seals herself inside a tree cavity using mud and fruit pulp, leaving only a narrow slit. The male delivers food through the opening until the chick is ready
