Grace Church Cathedral is tucked away just off King Street at 98 Wentworth Street. Architecture is considered one of Charleston’s purest expressions of Gohic Revival, with pointed arches, delicate pinnacles, and a soaring spire.
This Charleston treasure was designed by Edward Brickell White and was built 1846 to 1848. The church has survived storms and was even struck by a shell during the Civil War. For 180 years, it has continued to glow with quiet strength and reverence. In 1025, Grace was formally designated the cathedral church of the Episcopal Church of South Carolina, making it not just a landmark, but the diocese’s spiritual home.
