This wonderful bird looks like a tropical flash of neon in the forest canopy.  Males are a glossy, electric blue and black.  Females wear a softer blue-green that blends into leaves.  Found across tropical South and Southeast Asia, this bird is most at home in humid forests and forest edges. They feed mainly on fruit – especially figs, nectar, and the occasional insect.  This is a canopy-dweller you are more likely to hear or glimpse high in the treetops than see on the ground. Globally, they are currently listed as “Least Concern”.
